NBN Public Disservant of the Week: NJ Gov. Christie
It always bothers NBN that we side so often against the Republican philosophies that hold sway over so many in this country. It’s not because we so-tightly embrace Democratic philosophies—there doesn’t even appear to be one. But the GOP always seems to side with business without any regard to environmental toll taken. The latest profound example can be found in Paul Krugman’s column Friday. He says Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican NBN kind of liked, submarined a train tunnel project with Manhattan two years back because he wanted to avoid raising gas taxes needed to pay for state highway maintenance. What planet are these people living on? Wars prompted by our oil-driven foreign policy have killed some 7,000 Americans and this clown shoots down a project that would make his state less dependent on oil. What the heck is going on?
